Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman and former president Asif Ali Zardari said that the country is moving towards free and fair transparent elections and PPP is fully prepared for contesting general elections.
Zardari expressed confidence in the Election Commission of Pakistan's (ECP) ability to hold elections.
“PPP has the ability to fight elections in all kinds of environments,” Asif Zardari said, adding that, the PPP will emerge as the majority party of the country on February 8.
“The environment of the country is favorable for elections at the moment,” Asif Zardari said. The former president reiterated that elections should be held on time.
PPP bigwigs have launched a series of remarks against the PMLN's performance in the 16-month stint of the PDM government.
After ruling 16 months in the coalition government, former allies of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), now become political ‘rivals’ as the political temperature has been brewing to its peak level with each passing day since ECP announced general elections to be held on February 8.
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto has now openly been criticising Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) supremo Nawaz Sharif in his public gatherings and press conferences for one reason or another.

Earlier, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Rana Sanaullah said that PMLN will run the electoral campaign with verve in Punjab. Addressing a news conference in Lahore, Sanaullah said, ‘’The PML-N has more than one candidate in every constituency. The workers and leaders have decided to contest elections in great numbers.’’
‘’The meeting of the parliamentary board will start next week, which will be presided over by PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif,’’ Sanaullah said.
Sanaullah said, ‘’The PML-N will bag up to 125 seats in Punjab in the elections".
