Senior Pakistani actress Saba Hameed has opened up about the real story behind a scene in which she slapped fellow actor Hiba Bukhari during the drama serial Fitoor.
With a career spanning nearly four decades, Saba Hameed is regarded as one of the most respected performers in Pakistan’s television industry. Over the years, she has delivered notable performances in dramas such as Family Front, Mere Humsafar, Thakan, Pyarey Afzal and Ghisi Piti Mohabbat. She was also praised for her role in Manto Nahi Hoon Main and is currently appearing in the drama serial Ishq.
Speaking recently on a private television comedy show, the veteran actress addressed the much-discussed moment from Fitoor. She said that she usually avoids slapping co-actors for real and instead relies on camera angles and acting techniques to make such scenes appear convincing.
However, she explained that in this case, the director insisted on a real slap to maintain authenticity. She admitted that she struck Hiba Bukhari and later apologized because the slap was quite hard. According to her, when a director demands realism, actors sometimes have no choice but to perform the action as instructed.
Saba Hameed added that such situations are never pleasant for performers, but they are occasionally required to ensure that a character is portrayed convincingly on screen.
