Apple has introduced the iPhone 17e as a more affordable entry in its iPhone 17 lineup, with pre-orders opening March 4 and retail availability beginning March 11.
In an announcement on March 2, Apple said the device will be offered in black, white and soft pink, starting at $599. The new model features a streamlined design with a single rear camera, in contrast to the triple-camera system on higher-end iPhone 17 variants.
Key features include Apple’s A19 processor, a next-generation C1X cellular modem claimed to deliver speeds up to twice as fast as the iPhone 16e, and a 48-megapixel Fusion camera capable of 4K Dolby Vision video and 2x telephoto functionality.
The device also features a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display, Ceramic Shield 2 for enhanced durability, MagSafe support and fast wireless charging.
Apple highlighted satellite messaging capability as a major feature, enabling users to send messages even without Wi-Fi or cellular connectivity.
Kaiann Drance, Apple’s vice president of worldwide iPhone product marketing, said the iPhone 17e delivers strong performance and popular features at a competitive price, positioning it as an attractive upgrade option within the iPhone 17 family.
The company said the phone incorporates 30 percent recycled materials, including 85 percent recycled aluminum in the enclosure and fully recycled cobalt in the battery. Production across the supply chain uses 55 percent renewable energy, including wind and solar power.
Meanwhile, Samsung confirmed that its flagship Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra will go on retail sale on March 11, 2026, setting up a direct release-day competition between the two devices.
