In a major counterterrorism success, security forces killed five terrorists belonging to Fitna-ul-Khawarij during an intelligence-based operation in Pishin district of Balochistan on Sunday.
Among those neutralized was a suicide bomber who blew himself up during the exchange of fire. The operation was carried out on confirmed reports of the presence of terrorists linked to what officials described as an Indian proxy group.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces launched the operation after receiving intelligence about the presence of terrorists in Pishin.
During the conduct of the operation, the troops effectively engaged the entire group using multiple weapons. An intense fire exchange followed, during which a suicide bomber detonated himself. Four other terrorists were hunted down and killed by the security forces.
Weapons, explosives recovered
ISPR stated that a large quantity of weapons, ammunition, and explosives was recovered from the possession of the slain terrorists.
The militants were reportedly involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area, including serious acts of terrorism that had threatened local peace and stability.
Following the successful engagement, security forces initiated clearance and sanitization operations in the area.
According to the military’s media wing, efforts are ongoing to search for and eliminate any remaining terrorists who may still be present in the region.
Officials reiterated that the relentless counterterrorism campaign under the vision of 'Azm-e-Istehkam' will continue at full pace to eliminate foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from Pakistan.
