A massive explosion rocked the Taftan border area in Balochistan’s Chagai district after a gas-filled bowser caught fire, leaving one person dead and three others injured, including the Taftan assistant commissioner.
The powerful blast spread panic across the area, with its sound reportedly heard far and wide.
According to the district administration, the incident occurred near the Taftan border when a sudden fire erupted in a gas bowser. As the flames intensified, the blaze triggered a massive explosion. The impact of the blast created fear and chaos in the surrounding locality.
Chagai Deputy Commissioner Jahanzeb Shahwani confirmed that four people were injured in the explosion and were immediately shifted to a nearby health center for medical treatment.

One of the injured later succumbed to his wounds. The deceased was identified as Munawar Ali. Two of the injured were referred to Quetta for further medical care due to the severity of their injuries.
AC injured, but supervising
The deputy commissioner confirmed that Taftan Assistant Commissioner Naeem Qasim was also injured in the blast. Despite sustaining injuries, he remained at the site and continued supervising rescue and relief operations.
Efforts to control the fire are ongoing, with fire brigade personnel actively working to extinguish the flames.
Teams from the district administration and security agencies have reached the scene and initiated action to manage the situation.
Reports of more injured; investigation continues
DC Shahwani said there are also reports of additional people being injured in the blast, and rescue operations are underway to assist them.
He added that the exact cause of the fire remains unknown. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the reasons behind the incident.
