The premises of the Mysore Law Courts were evacuated on Tuesday morning after authorities received an alleged bomb threat via email, prompting swift security measures and a temporary suspension of court proceedings.
According to police, the Mysuru District Court received a bomb threat through email on January 6. As a precautionary measure, judicial officers, lawyers, litigants, court staff, and members of the public were immediately asked to vacate the premises.
A police team, along with a bomb disposal squad, rushed to the court complex and cordoned off the entire area. Officials began a detailed and systematic search of the premises to verify the threat and ensure public safety.
Court proceedings halted
Following the evacuation, all court proceedings were briefly suspended, police confirmed. Authorities said the decision was taken purely as a precaution until security checks inside the complex were completed.
Advocates, their clients, and other visitors present inside the court building were directed to leave immediately. Large numbers of onlookers later gathered outside the court premises as lawyers waited while police carried out verification and security checks.
Police confirms search
A senior police officer said the bomb disposal squad was conducting a thorough inspection of the entire court complex. Officials added that further action would depend on the outcome of the security sweep.
Police stated that the situation remains under close observation and that normal court activities would resume only after the premises are declared safe.
No injuries or damage were reported at the time of filing this report.
