One person was killed and five others were injured when a hand grenade exploded at Chink Chowk in Sibi, triggering panic in the area and raising fresh questions about public safety in the city.
According to police, unidentified attackers threw a hand grenade at Chink Chowk and managed to flee the scene immediately after the explosion. The blast caused chaos in the surrounding area, prompting an urgent response from law enforcement agencies.
Soon after the incident, police and the bomb disposal squad reached the site and cordoned off the area. Evidence collection is ongoing as authorities attempt to trace those responsible for the attack.
Police confirmed that the person killed in the explosion was a rickshaw driver identified as Muhammad Wafa. All injured individuals, along with the body of the deceased, were shifted to the Civil Hospital for medical treatment.
Details of injured
The injured were identified as Naeem Ahmed, Sanaullah, Ramzan, and Ayan, according to police sources. One of the injured is a 10-year-old child, highlighting the indiscriminate nature of the attack.
According to the Civil Hospital medical superintendent, the condition of two injured persons is critical, while the remaining injured are reported to be out of danger.
Hospital staff said all injured are receiving necessary medical assistance.

Station House Officer Ghulam Ali Abro confirmed that the explosion was caused by a hand grenade. Police officials added that most of the injured are now in stable condition.
Following the incident, political and social circles across the city strongly condemned the attack.
