Senior police officer Javed Alam Odho formally took charge as the Sindh inspector general of police (IGP), becoming the 86th officer to lead the province’s police force.
His appointment marks a renewed focus on effective policing, welfare, and institutional strengthening.
Upon his arrival in Karachi, Sindh IGP Odho was presented with a guard of honour, marking the formal assumption of his responsibilities. Following the ceremony, he visited the memorial of police martyrs and paid rich tribute to their great sacrifices for peace and public safety.
Meeting with CS
After assuming charge, the IG met Sindh Chief Secretary Asif Haider Shah to discuss key priorities for the police department. The meeting focused on strengthening institutional capacity and improving operational effectiveness across the province.
During the discussion, both sides agreed to further enhance the training, facilities, and welfare of police personnel. The move aims to ensure better working conditions and professional growth for officers serving across Sindh.
Govt assures full cooperation
The chief secretary congratulated Odho on taking charge as the police chief and assured him of full cooperation from the Sindh government. He acknowledged that the services of the police in maintaining peace and stability in the province are commendable.
Odho reaffirmed his commitment to promoting effective and people-friendly policing throughout Sindh. He emphasized that public trust, professionalism, and service delivery would remain central to his leadership approach.
