Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti said on Friday that organised false narratives spread through social media have created distances between the youth and the state.
Addressing participants of the 18th Balochistan National Workshop, the chief minister said that social media has been used to circulate coordinated misinformation to alienate young people from the state. He said that the youth are Pakistan’s bright future and the nation’s real asset.
CM Bugti said it is essential to inform the new generation about correct historical facts and the national narrative. The chief minister said the state has never followed a policy of indiscriminate use of force in Balochistan. He said calling limited and targeted actions a state operation is against the facts.
The Balochistan chief minister said it is important to understand the clear difference between perceptions spread about Balochistan and the realities on the ground, adding that the dreams of weakening the state through violence and chaos will never succeed.
The chief minister said young people are misled through psychological manipulation and organised recruitment tactics. CM Bugti said Pakistan is a strong and invincible state and will always endure.
He said the state never tires, and those who dream of dividing Pakistan like a cake will fail. The chief minister urged youth to adopt positive, fact-based thinking instead of blindly following negative narratives without research.
CM Bugti said he will respond to even the toughest questions from youth through reasoning, dialogue and facts, adding that he is ready for dialogue with youth at every educational institution, every university and every national forum.
The Balochistan chief minister maintained: "A practical model of effective governance is being introduced in Balochistan. Poor governance strengthens anti-state elements, while good governance ensures state stability. More than 3,200 closed schools in Balochistan have been reopened."
The chief minister said basic healthcare facilities have been provided in several underdeveloped areas for the first time since the creation of Pakistan. He added that the Benazir Bhutto Scholarship Programme is the largest educational scholarship scheme in Balochistan’s history.
CM Bugti said scholarships are also being given to children of civilian martyrs, minorities and transgender persons, adding that every student from Balochistan can study scientific subjects at leading universities of the world.
The chief minister said opportunities for PhD studies have been opened in more than 200 international universities, adding that he will continue to work for the betterment of the province until the last day, the last hour and the final moment.
