Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Climate Change, Musadik Malik, warned of a weakening global order and rising unilateralism as he addressed world leaders at the 11th UNAOC Global Forum on Monday.
Speaking at the forum themed “UNAOC: Two Decades of Dialogue for Humanity,” Malik reflected on the erosion of multilateralism. He highlighted growing conflicts, trade disputes, and declining funding for environmental and developmental priorities.
“Bilateralism is increasingly giving way to unilateral actions, with serious consequences for global peace and justice,” Malik cautioned, urging nations to recommit to cooperative problem-solving.
Commitment to rights and justice
The minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to universal principles of justice and rights, emphasizing women’s rights, minority rights, environmental protection, and children’s rights as fundamental and non-negotiable.

He stressed that these rights must be applied consistently, criticizing selective enforcement in global affairs.
Malik drew attention to ongoing crises in Palestine and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). He urged the international community to recognize and protect the rights of Palestinians and Kashmiris in accordance with international norms.
Water rights and regional stability
The minister also underscored the importance of equitable water sharing, highlighting the responsibilities of upper riparian states toward lower riparian nations. He stressed that fair water distribution is crucial for regional stability, sustainable development, and human security.
Concluding his address, Malik noted that the 20th anniversary of the United Nations Alliance of Civilisations serves as a reminder to recommit to dialogue, peace, and mutual respect among nations.
