National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said on Wednesday that rumours about the removal of Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti had no basis, and added that the provincial coalition government would continue its full role for the province’s development and prosperity.
He gave the clarification after a meeting in Islamabad with the Chief Minister, who called on him with the Pakistan Muslim League (N)’s Parliamentary Leader in the Balochistan Assembly, Mir Saleem Khan Khosa. The meeting addressed the province’s political, social and development situation in detail.
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq dismissed the reports about a change in the province’s leadership as baseless and said that no truth existed in such rumours. He stated that the provincial coalition government would maintain its active role for Balochistan’s progress and welfare. He said that the development of Balochistan in fact meant the development of Pakistan, and described the major ongoing projects in the province as encouraging.
The meeting also covered public welfare, challenges faced by the province and the need for stronger federal cooperation. The Speaker assured full support for Balochistan at every level and said that the resolution of the people’s problems remained a top priority. He added that strong coordination between the federation and the provinces played a key role in addressing public issues.
Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti paid tribute to the Speaker’s parliamentary services and leadership. He appreciated the National Assembly’s support for the legislative process in the Balochistan Assembly. He said that the people of Balochistan and the security forces remained in the front line against terrorism, and that Parliament stood as the strong voice of the provinces.
