The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued licenses to eight VPN service providers, a move aimed at ensuring secure and authorized virtual private network usage across the country.
The decision marks a significant shift in how users will access VPN services going forward.
The PTA announced that the licensing initiative is designed to provide secure and legally authorized VPN services within Pakistan. By registering these providers, the authority aims to eliminate unauthorized services while offering users safe and compliant options.
According to the PTA, these newly licensed companies are now fully permitted to offer VPN services in the country.
No need to register IP addresses or numbers
In a major relief for VPN users, the PTA confirmed that individuals will no longer need to separately register their IP addresses or mobile numbers to use VPN services. This requirement had previously been a point of confusion and inconvenience for many users.
Now, customers can simply subscribe to and use services provided by any of the licensed companies. The PTA emphasized that users will be able to directly access these VPN services without any additional registration steps.
