In a significant boost to Pakistan’s local energy resources, Mari Energy Limited has announced a fresh oil and gas discovery at its Mari Ghazij Exploration Well in the Mari Field.
The company confirmed that the well will produce both oil and natural gas, marking another milestone in the country’s energy development efforts.
New discovery adds to Pakistan’s energy potential
Mari Energy Limited, Pakistan’s leading gas producer, reported that the discovery was made from the Mari Ghazij Exploration Well in Dharki. Drilling began on September 12, and the well successfully reached a depth of 1,195 meters, uncovering substantial hydrocarbon reserves.
According to the company, the new well is set to produce 305 barrels of oil per day (BOPD) and around three million standard cubic feet of gas per day (MMSCFD), contributing significantly to national energy supplies.
Second major discovery in Gharij area
Fahim Haider, the managing director of Mari Energy Limited, confirmed that this marks the second oil discovery in the Gharij area. He emphasized that the achievement reflects the company’s continued commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s energy independence through indigenous exploration and production efforts.
“Mari Energy has once again demonstrated its technical excellence and strategic focus on domestic resource development,” Haider said.
Mari Energy Limited currently holds a 30% market share in Pakistan’s gas production, making it the largest natural gas producer in the country. The latest discovery reinforces its position as a leading force in meeting Pakistan’s growing energy needs while reducing reliance on costly imports.
