Pakistan’s Playing XI for the first Test match against South Africa has been finalised, sources confirmed. The team management has opted for a balanced combination featuring seven specialist batters, two spinners, and two fast bowlers.
According to insiders, left-arm spinner Asif Afridi is expected to make his Test debut, marking a significant milestone in his career. The inclusion reflects the selectors’ confidence in his domestic performance and spin-friendly conditions anticipated for the series opener.
Key batters retained in squad
The final line-up includes Pakistan’s top batting names — Abdullah Shafiq, Imam-ul-Haq, and Shan Masood are set to anchor the top order, while Babar Azam, Saud Shakeel, and Muhammad Rizwan will strengthen the middle order.
