The Ziarat assistant commissioner, Muhammad Afzal, and his son were killed by kidnappers.
According to details, their bodies were found near Zard Aloo, a remote and mountainous part of Harnai. The Levies officials, the bodies were thrown in the rugged terrain after the killings. On the orders of additional secretary home, Hamza Shafqat, the police, Levies, Frontier Corps and district administration, under the leadership of Additional Deputy Commissioner Harnai, Saleem Tareen, carried out a search operation and recovered the remains.
Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti condemned the incident and said the murderers of innocent people and enemies of peace would not escape justice. He paid tribute to Muhammad Afzal and his son, describing their deaths as a symbol of sacrifice in the pursuit of peace in Balochistan.
The incident took place on August 10 this year. Assistant Commissioner Afzal was on a picnic with his family in the Zizari area of Ziarat when armed men abducted him, his 16-year-old son Muhammad Bilal, a driver and a bodyguard. The kidnappers later released the driver and the bodyguard, while Afzal and his son were taken to an undisclosed location.
