In a shocking incident, bodies of three transgender persons were found near the Super Highway in Memon Goth, Karachi.
According to police, all three were shot dead before being dumped in the bushes. The case has sparked outrage, with Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah directing police to arrest the killers without delay.
Details of incident
Malir SSP Abdul Khaliq Pirzada, speaking to media at the crime scene, said that two victims were shot in the chest and one in the head. Police recovered a purse, tissue paper, and other belongings from the area.
Initial investigations suggest that each victim was shot once. Two spent shells of a 9mm pistol were found at the scene, while the bodies appeared to be 10–12 hours old.
Lack of surveillance cameras
Police confirmed that no security cameras were installed at the crime scene itself, though efforts are underway to trace footage from nearby roads. Officers believe the transgender persons were killed inside the bushes before their bodies were abandoned.
Victims yet to be identified
Authorities said the victims have not yet been identified. The bodies were shifted to a hospital for medical examination, while forensic evidence has been collected from the area.
Sindh CM takes notice
Taking strong notice of the murders, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah issued instructions to the inspector general of police to ensure the immediate arrest of those involved.
“The killers of transgender persons must be caught at all costs, and a detailed report should be submitted to me,” the CM said. He emphasized that transgender people are among the most oppressed segments of society and deserve respect and protection.
“The state will not tolerate the killing of any innocent or marginalized citizen,” he added.
