TikToker Samiya Hijab told the sessions court Islamabad on Monday that she has forgiven suspect Hassan Zahid in the alleged kidnapping and threats case, declaring her decision was made “for the sake of Allah".
Following her statement, the court approved Zahid’s bail.
Forgiveness in court
During the hearing before Additional District and Sessions Judge Chaudhry Aamir Zia, the investigation officer Muhammad Ishaq informed the court that Samiya had pardoned the suspect. The judge then directed that the plaintiff or a family member appear personally to confirm the development.
After a short break in proceedings, Samiya Hijab appeared in court and formally recorded her statement.
Samiya Hijab’s statement
Judge Aamir Zia asked her whether the matter had been resolved. To this, Samiya replied: “Yes, our matter has been resolved. I withdraw my case. I have no objection to the bail and acquittal of the suspect.”
Her testimony paved the way for the court to approve bail for Hassan Zahid in exchange for surety bonds worth Rs20,000.
Following her statement, Samiya chose not to respond to journalists’ questions about the reconciliation and quietly left the courtroom.
Court staff also cleared media representatives from the room on the judge’s orders, limiting coverage during the hearing.
Background
Two separate cases had been registered against Hassan Zahid at Shalimar Police Station on allegations of kidnapping and issuing threats to the TikToker. Monday’s development marks a turning point in the case, with Samiya formally stepping back from pursuing charges.
