At least 406 people have lost their lives in various incidents triggered by torrential rains and flash floods across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to a report issued by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).
The report, covering the period since August 15, stated that 604 people have died across the province due to rain-related incidents, including 55 women and 46 children, while 247 others have been injured.
The heaviest losses were reported from Buner district, where the death toll has crossed 300, followed by Swabi with 40 fatalities. Other districts affected include Swat, Bajaur, Mansehra, Shangla, Lower Dir, Battagram and Dera Ismail Khan.

In one of the deadliest incidents, eight people were killed and 48 injured in Dera Ismail Khan after roofs collapsed during heavy overnight rains.
The PDMA report further noted that 3,526 houses have been damaged in the province, out of which 577 were completely destroyed.

Authorities have directed district administrations to accelerate rescue and relief activities. The PDMA said it is coordinating with all relevant agencies to monitor the evolving situation and ensure immediate assistance to victims.
