Authorities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab have issued fresh alerts as heavy monsoon rains are expected to intensify from today, raising fears of flash floods in several districts.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said most districts face a risk of flash flooding and directed district administrations and emergency departments to remain on alert.
Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) forecast stormy rains across Punjab, warning of possible cloudbursts and flooding in Mianwali, Chakwal, Talagang, and Attock. The current seventh and strongest spell of the monsoon season is expected to continue until August 21.
According to the DG PDMA, flash flooding is feared in the Potohar region. Authorities have been instructed to strictly enforce Section 144 around Rawalpindi’s Leh Nullah to prevent public gatherings near vulnerable areas.
Officials urged citizens to take precautionary measures, stay in safe places, avoid traveling during flash floods, and park vehicles away from water channels.
