At least 17 people were killed and dozens injured as torrential rains, glacier bursts and flash floods caused destruction in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
In Ghizer district of GB, eight people lost their lives in floodwaters, while two others were killed in Diamer. Hunza, Nagar and Skardu saw dozens of houses and government buildings destroyed, crops washed away, and key roads including Karakoram Highway, Babusar Road and Gilgit-Skardu Road blocked.
In AJK, seven people, including six members of the same family, were killed in Muzaffarabad’s Sarli Sacha area following heavy rains and a cloudburst. In Neelum Valley, several houses and two bridges were swept away, while hundreds of tourists were stranded in Ratti Gali; 100 have been rescued so far.
High-level floods were reported in Neelum, Jhelum and Poonch rivers, with authorities urging residents to remain cautious.
