Sindh High Court Tuesday expressed strong displeasure with Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) officials over illegal constructions in Ramzanabad Garden West.
During the hearing of a petition against the illegal structures, Justice Iqbal Kalhoro remarked that SBCA officials “only work to make money under the table” and called the authority “the most notorious department of the government,” adding that “there will be a special place in hell” for its officers.
The court questioned the SBCA over a building constructed in 2000, asking what action had been taken since then. SBCA officials said the matter had only recently come to their notice and that action would be taken in compliance with court orders. Justice Kalhoro responded by asking why court intervention was necessary for them to perform their duties.
The court ordered the SBCA to take action against the illegal construction and submit a compliance report by September 16.
