Lahore is set to deploy Pakistan’s first fleet of AI-powered dust suppression vehicles in a major step towards tackling smog and air pollution.
The Punjab Environment Department has finalized testing, with 15 vehicles ready to operate this month.
CM Maryam to inaugurate anti-smog fleet
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is expected to formally inaugurate the new environmental vehicles later this month. The initiative is part of the provincial government’s broader strategy to improve air quality and address growing environmental concerns in the provincial capital.

Engineers are in the final stages of prepping the vehicles for deployment across major pollution hotspots in Lahore.
Smart technology meets environmental action
Each dust suppression vehicle is equipped with advanced technology, including artificial intelligence and satellite connectivity. These vehicles can spray water up to 120 meters into the air to settle dust particles — a key contributor to smog.
More impressively, the vehicles are designed to detect rising pollution levels and activate automatically. Real-time air quality monitors installed onboard will track environmental conditions around them.
Modern approach to smog control
According to the Environment Department, this smart fleet is a first-of-its-kind solution in Pakistan and symbolizes the province’s shift toward tech-driven environmental management. Officials say the vehicles will play a critical role in reducing airborne dust, especially during peak smog seasons.
