Over 60 jeeps carrying tourists were stranded on the road to Saiful Muluk Lake after a heavy landslide triggered by a cloudburst in the Naran area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The incident occurred late Friday following intense rainfall in the upper parts of the Kaghan Valley.
According to officials, a sudden cloudburst caused debris and mud to slide onto the narrow mountainous road, cutting off access and leaving dozens of vehicles stuck.
Rescue operations were swiftly initiated by the Kaghan Development Authority (KDA). Engineering One, a unit of KDA, deployed heavy machinery to the site and managed to clear the road within a few hours.
“All stranded tourists and over 60 jeeps have been safely evacuated,” a KDA spokesperson confirmed.
Eyewitnesses said that families, including women and children, were among those trapped as they attempted to return from the lake. Social media footage showed long queues of jeeps halted by rubble, with tourists waiting for help under challenging weather conditions.
