The 9th of Muharram is being observed across Pakistan with solemn religious devotion under strict security arrangements.
According to details, mobile phone services remain suspended on Saturday along the procession paths. Stringent security measures have been adopted, and close surveillance is being maintained along the procession routes.
Quetta:
The main 9th Muharram procession in Quetta concluded peacefully after returning to Imambargah Nasir-ul-Aza via traditional routes. Foolproof security arrangements were made, including the suspension of mobile phone services and complete road closures to ensure safety.
Peshawar:
In Peshawar, the main procession began at Hussainiya Hall Imambargah Cantt, where mourners paid tribute to the martyrs of Karbala. Despite the intense heat, water coolers, cold beverage stations, and large fans were set up for participants.
Multiple symbolic processions, including Alam, Ali Asghar’s cradle, and Zuljinah, were taken out from Hussainiya Hall Imambargah on Saddar Road. Participants mourned the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions with chest-beating and noha recitation.
“The martyrs of Karbala taught us to stand against tyranny by upholding the flag of Islam,” said a mourner.
Islamabad:
In the federal capital, the main procession of the 9th Muharram is moving along its designated traditional routes, attracting large crowds of men, women, children, and the elderly. The procession is set to conclude tonight at Imambargah Asna Ashri.
Over 5,800 police officers and personnel have been deployed to secure the event. Safe City cameras and mobile control units are monitoring the procession in real-time to ensure order and safety.
Rawalpindi:
The main procession in Rawalpindi, which began at Imambargah Fatimia (Chittian Hattian) at noon, concluded at Imambargah Colonel Maqbool Hussain Zaidi on College Road after passing through Iqbal Road and Alam Khan Road. All markets, commercial centres and shops on the procession route were suspended, and the routes were sealed off with barbed wire and barricades. A large number of mourners participated in the procession.
Snipers were stationed on rooftops, and Safe City monitoring ensured surveillance throughout. Participants were screened through walk-through gates before entry.
Lahore:
In Lahore, the 9th Muharram procession started from Pando Street and proceeded toward Khaima-e-Sadaat via Secretariat Chowk, following its traditional route. After the majlis, the procession will return to Pando Street to conclude.
Strict security measures were in place, and key roads, including Lower Mall to Jain Mandir Chowk, were closed to traffic.
Gujranwala:
The main procession in Gujranwala started from Imambargah Qasr Abu Talib. Extensive arrangements were made for mourners, including the preparation of over 100 cauldrons of langar and installation of cold-water sabeels along the route.
Ghotki:
Ghotki observed the 9th Muharram with its historic mourning procession originating from Salim Shah Imambargah. Large numbers of mourners joined in, reciting elegies and performing chest-beating rituals. Langar and water sabeels were set up along the route. Security forces ensured strict monitoring throughout the event.
Multan:
In Multan, the 9th Muharram procession concluded at Imambargah Hussainiya Mumtazabad after following its prescribed route. Roads that had been closed for the procession were reopened by police.
According to a police spokesperson:

166 majalis will be held after Maghrib prayers, including 35 high-security gatherings.

Over 3,500 officers and personnel are deployed for security.
