At least two security personnel were martyred and four others sustained injuries on Saturday in a powerful bomb blast targeting a patrol vehicle in the Mangochar region of Kalat district, southwest Balochistan, according to security sources.
The explosion occurred in the Jobaan area near a post of the Bomb Disposal (BD) team, reportedly striking a vehicle carrying security personnel during a routine patrol. Levies sources confirmed that the attack was carried out using a remotely detonated improvised explosive device (IED).
Following the blast, security forces and rescue teams swiftly arrived at the scene and shifted the bodies and injured personnel to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far. However, security officials suspect the involvement of insurgent elements operating in the region.
In the immediate aftermath, the area was cordoned off, and a search operation was launched to track down the perpetrators.
