A major gas transmission pipeline carrying natural gas from the local oil and gas fields toward Punjab was blown up late last night near Wanda Arsala in Lakki Marwat.
According to police, explosive material was used to breach the line, triggering a massive fire and a significant gas leak. No casualties were reported, but the blast sent plumes of flame and smoke into the sky, prompting nearby residents to evacuate as a precaution.
Security forces and heavy police contingents quickly cordoned off the area to prevent unauthorized access and to secure the scene.
Fire crews battled the blaze while pipeline engineers worked urgently to isolate the damaged section and stem the gas flow. Authorities say repair efforts are progressing swiftly, with specialized teams mobilized to restore service as soon as conditions allow. An investigation has been launched to determine the perpetrators and motive behind the attack.
