The federal government proposed on Sunday a budget allocation of Rs104billion for 47 projects in the power sector for the upcoming financial year.
According to the Power Division, Rs15.97billion have been allocated for the Dasso hydropower project transmission line, while Rs11.62billion will be allocated to provide 600 MW of electricity to Allama Iqbal Industrial City.
Additionally, Rs5.25billion will be allocated for the coal-powered electricity generation project, which aims to produce 1320 MW of power and Rs2.94billion for the advance metering project in IESCO.
A sum of Rs1.3billion will be allocated for the 500 KV transmission line from Matiari-Moro-Rahim Yar Khan.

The proposal also included Rs3.1billion for the development of various power projects in special economic zones, including Rs310million for Rashkai Special Economic Zone and Rs170 for the Hattar Industrial Zone. Furthermore, Rs478million will be earmarked for the construction of 200 KV substations in Dhabeji, Haripur and Swabi.
The upcoming fiscal year will also see the allocation of Rs2billion for the Mummand Dam electricity transmission project and Rs3billion for the CASA-1000 project.
