Gilgit-Baltistan has reported its first polio case of the year, raising concerns among health officials as Pakistan continues its fight against the crippling disease.
According to health authorities, a two-year-old child from the Diamer district has tested positive for the poliovirus. The National Institute of Health (NIH) confirmed the presence of the virus in laboratory tests.
With this new case, the total number of polio cases reported in Pakistan in 2025 has now reached 11.
Health officials are urging parents to ensure their children receive polio vaccinations, as efforts continue to eradicate the disease from the country.
