Netflix’s smash-hit Korean thriller Squid Game is returning for its final season on June 27 — and the newly released teaser has fans bracing for one last round of high-stakes drama.
The trailer, which debuted on Netflix’s official YouTube channel, amassed over 7 million views in less than 24 hours, signalling global anticipation for the series’ final chapter.
Season 3 picks up right where Season 2 left off. Lee Jung-jae returns as Gi-hun, this time reentering the deadly competition not for money, but revenge and closure. After losing his closest friend during an attempted uprising, Gi-hun is driven by a personal mission that could change the game’s fate forever.
The teaser opens with an intense visual — Pink Guards placing a coffin in the dormitory. As they open it, a bloodied Gi-hun lies inside. His slow eye movement hints at a dangerous and emotionally charged season ahead.
Fans will see the return of the enigmatic Front Man (Lee Byung-hun), still operating from the shadows, as well as surviving contestants facing one last brutal test. Other familiar faces include detective Jun-ho (Wi Ha-jun) and Pink Guard No-eul (Park Gyu-young), both navigating the game’s inner workings in mysterious ways.
New scenes reveal players drawing red or blue balls, entering maze-like arenas, and confronting new life-or-death challenges. A baby's cry heard in the trailer hints at the fate of pregnant contestant Jun-hee (Jo Yu-ri).
Returning contestants Min-gi (Im Si-wan), Dae-ho (Kang Ha-neul), and Nam-gyu (Noh Jae-won) are also spotted in a chilling scene inside a room with a blade and a keyhole-shaped door.
Filmed back-to-back with Season 2, this final season arrives just six months after the previous instalment. Since its debut in 2021, Squid Game has broken viewership records, with Season 2 logging 488 million hours watched in its first week alone. The series has won multiple accolades, including six Emmy Awards and Best Foreign Language Series at the Critics Choice Awards.
As the end approaches, fans can expect Squid Game to go out with a bang — emotionally gripping, visually haunting, and every bit as thrilling as the journey that began three years ago.
