Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has dismissed rumors circulating on social media regarding a possible shutdown of YouTube, clarifying that no such directive has been issued.
In a statement, the PTA spokesperson said, "No instructions have been given to block YouTube or any other social media platform."
The clarification comes as an old press release is once again making rounds online, causing confusion among the public.
"This outdated notification, originally issued in September 2012 in compliance with Supreme Court orders at the time, is being mistakenly linked to the current situation," the spokesperson explained.
PTA urged the public to rely only on verified sources for information. "We advise citizens to consult PTA’s official website and social media accounts for accurate and up-to-date announcements," the spokesperson added.
