The intermediate exams in Sindh have been rescheduled for June 1, as the board officials say it will not be possible to conduct the examinations from May 28.
The decision comes after the intermediate board sought permission to delay exams by four days, citing the unfeasibility of conducting exams from May 28. The minister concerned gave the required go-ahead.
The board met with the minister of education boards seeking approval for the postponement, highlighting the logistical constraints faced by 21 examination centres shared by both matriculation and intermediate exams. These centres, essentially higher secondary schools, were designated as centres for the intermediate exams scheduled for May 22.
However, the exams were postponed across the province, including Karachi, due to the intense heat wave gripping the region. The 21 centres, originally designated for intermediate exams in the morning and matriculation in the evening, were now deemed inadequate due to the postponement of matriculation exams also owing to hot weather conditions.

The postponed matriculation exams would now be conducted at the same centres from May 28. The chairman of the board, Naseem Memon, emphasized the need for a resolution, stating, "It is not possible to hold the examinations of both boards simultaneously in 21 centers."
In response to the challenge, he said, permission was sought to continue the exams. A meeting was convened today by the minister of education boards and universities, which was attended by the chairpersons of both the matriculation and inter boards, aimed at devising a solution to the scheduling conflict.

On Monday, in response to the severe heatwave alert in Sindh, the Board of Secondary Education in Karachi announced the postponement of the ongoing matriculation exams. The exams, initially scheduled between May 21 and 27, were deferred to ensure the safety and well-being of the students.
A day earlier, the Sindh government postponed the intermediate exams across the province, including Karachi, due to the intense heat wave gripping the region. The exams, which were originally scheduled to start on May 22, were postponed to May 27. The decision was taken on the recommendation of Minister of Universities and Boards Muhammad Ali Malkani and approved by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.
